Finance Director

Shalyn Hernandez has worked in the financial/banking industry for over 15 years. She currently serves as a Financial Center Manager, Assistant Vice President at First United Bank in Sherman, TX.

Her pride and joy is her family. She has been married to her best friend, Tony, for 14 years, and they have been blessed with 2 beautiful boys; Antonio Josiah (AJ) and Israel Jadon (IJ).

Shalyn has experienced the journey of being the parent of a special needs child.
In 2015, her “Angel Baby”, Gabrielle Faith, was born with a rare chromosomal disorder, Trisomy 18. This disorder causes severe development delays and malformations/abnormalities of several organs, with a low rate of survival. Despite the prognosis, their “Angel Baby” beat many odds and was on this earth for 5
months!

Shalyn calls her journey a “Faith Walk”, and has a desire to share her story with other families, in hopes to be an encouragement, support, resource, and an inspiration along their journey. The Owen Foundation has opened up an opportunity for her to do just that, and she is grateful to serve along the side of other great Board Of Directors with similar journeys and who share the same passion!
